Body piercing jewelry and body modification is very “in” at the moment. I recently saw an advert; “if you can pinch it, we can pierce it” which I do not doubt for a second is true. Though no longer is it the case that piercings simply are targeted at youths who are angry at the world.
Ear piercing
Ear lobe piercing is a classic one. I’ve recently seen a lot of big fake pearl earnings for a great retro look; add a matching necklace and you’re set! Though obviously now summer is coming it seems the bigger and more colourful an earring is – the better! Maxi dresses and long feathery earrings seem to be the scene this summer. What I love about this look is that the big feather earrings are obviously light, so you can go really overboard and massive with them without them tugging painfully at your lobes. It also goes to pull off a really alternative bohemian look and can be pretty much any or all colours.
Niche piercings
Don’t worry; it is not going to be graphic here. All different kinds of body piercing jewelry are making a bit of a scene this year.
Since summer is out we are seeing more naval piercings, though the theme with this seems to be a tad more minimalist. Smaller silver studs with a stone in rather than a diamond encrusted chain attached to some kind of charm.
Nose piercings are also become more common, again with smaller studs, though the ring is making a bit of a comeback, no longer seeming so “gothic” and angry. Worn with the right things this can really be part of the summer scene!
So body piercings are very “in” and available to all this summer and may well be worth trying something new. It won’t hurt too much!
